The Health Informatics & Health Information Technology (HIHIT) Program, offered through Executive Education at the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin, is a specialized training and certificate pathway designed to bridge the gap between healthcare delivery and technology. The program equips post-baccalaureate students, clinicians, and career-pivoting professionals with domain knowledge and practical technical skills required to implement, analyze, and manage digital health systems.

The HIHIT framework centers on four core operational and technical modules:

• Fundamentals of Health IT & Interoperability: Covers health information exchanges (HIEs), electronic health records (EHRs), interface engines, and standard healthcare data exchange protocols.
• The Business of American Healthcare: Explores healthcare delivery models, regulatory drivers, clinical workflows, and policy frameworks shaping health systems in the U.S. and globally.
• Healthcare Project Management in the Digital Age: Teaches project planning methodologies, risk management, and implementation strategies tailored to healthcare environments.
• Health Informatics & Data Analytics: Hands-on training utilizing tools such as SQL, Tableau, and EHR software to extract, query, and visualize clinical data to drive operational decision-making.

• Flexible On-Demand Structure: Delivered via an asynchronous online format that allows working professionals to complete individual modules or the full 4-course sequence to earn a UT McCombs Professional Certificate.
