The Healthcare and Life Science Hub of San Antonio

BioMedSA (BioMed San Antonio) is a non-profit, member-driven organization founded in 2005 to accelerate the growth of the healthcare and bioscience sector in San Antonio and the surrounding South/Central Texas region. Working in close partnership with the City of San Antonio, the organization acts as a regional coordinator, advocacy body, and strategic networking hub to foster collaboration, cultivate specialized talent, and support biomedical commercialization.

BioMedSA offers robust operational, networking, and cost-saving advantages to its regional network of medical, clinical, and scientific members:

• BIO Business Solutions® Cost Savings: Through strategic partnerships with the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) and the Texas Healthcare and Bioscience Institute (THBI), BioMedSA members gain direct, zero-fee access to significant pre-negotiated cost savings on laboratory equipment, insurance, shipping, and core business operations.
• BioMarketSA Program: A dedicated commercialization initiative designed to guide and prepare emerging medical technology startups for the rigorous process of pitching, vetting, and selling their products directly to major hospital systems.
• Military Medical Collaboration: Leveraging San Antonio’s unique position as home to major military medical hubs (including the 59th Medical Wing and Brooke Army Medical Center), BioMedSA bridges commercial innovators with military medical researchers and national funding pipelines like the Medical Technology Enterprise Consortium (MTEC).
• Workforce & Career Pathways: Partnering with Ready to Work SA and Workforce Solutions Alamo, the organization provides targeted workforce development resources. This includes a comprehensive Life Science Career Packet and educational pathways to match local talent with growing medical sectors.
