TMC Innovation (TMCi) is the dedicated commercialization and startup hub of the Texas Medical Center (TMC) in Houston—the world’s largest medical complex. Located in a repurposed historic Nabisco cookie factory (now the TMC Innovation Factory), the center serves as a globally recognized launchpad that connects medical device, digital health, and therapeutics startups with clinical pathways, corporate partners, and institutional capital.

Core Pillars & Infrastructure

• The TMC Innovation Factory: A massive collaborative hub offering flexible coworking spaces, private offices, and dedicated desks alongside specialized workspace leasing.
• Medical Device Labs @ TMC: A state-of-the-art rapid prototyping space. It features advanced tooling such as an electronics and mechanical testing wet lab, 3D printing lab, dissection lab, a mock operating room (OR), a VR prototyping suite, and a fully staffed prototyping machine shop.
• Therapeutics Labs @ TMC: Fully equipped biology and chemistry laboratories and shared high-end instrumentation to help growth-stage innovators fast-track drug discovery and preclinical development.

Key Programs & Accelerators

• TMCi Healthtech Accelerator (formerly TMCx): A customized, highly selective program tailored for digital health and medical device companies that have demonstrated proof of concept. The curriculum focuses on clinical validation, data security, regulatory pathways, hospital procurement, and piloting within the TMC hospital network.
• Accelerator for Cancer Therapeutics (ACT): A program dedicated to nurturing and launching early-stage oncology therapeutics, helping researchers move oncology innovations from the bench to clinical trials.
• TMC Biodesign: A one-year, hands-on fellowship program that brings together cross-disciplinary founders to discover unmet clinical needs and build venture-scale healthcare companies from scratch.
• The TMC Venture Fund: An active $75M venture fund that strategically deploys early-stage capital to promising healthcare and life science companies integrated into the TMC network.
